Solar Panels

An eco-friendly escape in Puglia, Italy

An Eco-Conscious Hotel Now Fully Solar Powered
Powering Sustainability in the Italian Region of Puglia

An environmentally conscious hotel now fully powered by solar energy

Nestled in the heart of beautiful Puglia, the charming Trulli Terra Viva hotel stands as a proud testament to the region’s rich architectural heritage. This idyllic retreat offers more than just a pleasant stay—it leads the way in ecological responsibility and sustainability, now powered by SunPower Maxeon solar panels.

Achieving Energy Independence with SunPower panels

Sustainable tourism is one of the fastest-growing markets worldwide. The owners of Trulli Terra Viva aimed to minimize the environmental impact of their property and achieve energy independence. In collaboration with our local partner, SAEM energie alternative SRL, they explored various solar energy solutions—not only to reduce reliance on the power grid but also to meet the rising demand for sustainable travel experiences.

Their goal was realized with SunPower panels, which are already drawing eco-conscious travelers to Puglia.

Preserving the “Trulli” architectural integrity

Powered by SunPower Maxeon solar panels, Trulli Terra Viva is closer than ever to full energy independence. A total of 29 solar panels were installed, but this was no ordinary setup. The hotel’s defining feature is its architecture: the trulli—traditional homes built from white limestone with conical roofs—posed a unique challenge in preserving their visual and structural integrity.

Months of meticulous planning led to an optimal solution. The final placement of the panels ensures maximum sun exposure throughout the day while maintaining the iconic look of the trulli rooftops.

The best part? The high efficiency of SunPower Maxeon panels means they generate more energy per square meter than conventional panels. This allows Trulli Terra Viva to meet its energy goals without overcrowding the rooftops.

SAEM energie alternative SRL completed the entire installation while the hotel remained open, causing minimal disruption to guests. A win on all fronts.

Reaping the benefits – energy savings and sustainability

Just one month after installation, Trulli Terra Viva is already seeing the positive impact of SunPower Maxeon solar panels. The system is outperforming expectations, generating enough clean energy to save 11,500 kWh—equivalent to approximately €4,500. But that’s not all.

The success of Trulli Terra Viva’s solar transition is inspiring other hotels in Puglia and beyond. Thanks to renewable energy, these properties can reduce operating costs and environmental footprints while meeting the growing demand for sustainable travel experiences.
